Background: The American Wind Energy Foundation, now known as the Wind Solar Alliance, is an advocacy organization for wind energy. The organization’s “A Renewable America” program implemented campaigns to accelerate the development of wind energy in the United States. The Garrity Group was brought on to raise awareness of New Mexico as a wind industry leader.

Challenge: The American Wind Energy Foundation (WEF) identified New Mexico as the place to release the American Wind Energy Association’s annual market report. New Mexico was featured in the report as being the fastest growing wind state in the United States. Their team wanted a New Mexico public relations firm that could complement their national media outreach.

Solution: The Garrity Group developed an approach to launch the annual report statewide, arranged embargoed media interviews as well as lined up industry and elected experts to share WEF’s exciting news.  The resulting coverage was included in all of the targeted media sources, creating a roadblock of coverage.  The event’s success provided The Garrity Group’s first client in the renewable energy industry.  Since then, the firm has worked with a variet of wind, solar, regulatory and transmission entities connected to the renewable energy industry.
